Here´s how it works: The teacher wears a body-pack style transmitter equipped with a lapel microphone. The student that requires hearing assistance wears a body-pack style receiver and picks up the message directly from the teacher into their headphones by way of a FM signal. Background noise and other environmental distractions are greatly reduced, and the student can adjust the volume of their receiver to a listening level that is comfortable for them.
The Motiva PFM 360 is particularly unique, where the receiver has its own external microphone. By turning on the external microphone, the receiver acts like a personal amplifier; it will pick up the closest immediate sound source. The student can then turn their attention to a nearby classmate who is speaking, just by turning up the volume on their microphone.
For larger classrooms or lecture halls exceeding 500 feet, teachers should consider using a Personal PA® Listening System from Williams Sound. Students use body-pack style receivers equipped with headphones (or earphones) to hear the teacher speak. The teacher speaks into a microphone which is connected to a T36 FM transmitter base station. The transmitter base station broadcasts the teacher’s message by way of FM signal throughout the classroom or lecture hall up to 1000 feet. The result is, any student in the room can hear the teacher clearly and easily, and can adjust the volume to meet their hearing assistance needs. Because the student’s receivers are wireless, they are free to move about in the room, and they won´t miss any of the teacher´s important messages.

The Motiva PFM 360 includes an R36 receiver, which features a sensitive environmental microphone: this gives the listener more flexibility on what they want to hear. By turning on the environmental mic, they can listen to a nearby classmate speak more clearly.

SoundPlus® All-in-One Infrared Listening System
The WIR TX90 combines modulator and emitter technology into a single operating unit. It is ideal for cinemas, auditoriums, courtrooms, schools and other large room facilities that require hearing assistance and simultaneous interpretation.
The WIR TX90 can transmit an audio signal up to 28,000 ft2 (2,600 m2) throughout a listening area when used with Williams Sound’s WIR RX22-4 receiver. Additional emitters can be connected to the unit for unlimited coverage. 2.3-3.8 MHz operation makes it less susceptible to high efficiency lighting interference.
