Courtroom/Judicial
:
In order for a judge to be fair and impartial when communicating to the participants of a courtroom, it is essential that the judge´s message can be heard by all - including those participants who have a hearing disability, or those who do not speak the court´s native language. SoundPlus™ Infrared Listening Systems from Williams Sound are designed for such purposes, accommodating both the hard of hearing listener, and providing language interpretation for courtroom participants that require it.
Here´s how it works: the judge or clerk speaks into a microphone, which sends the message to a modulator; the modulator then drives one or two infrared emitter panels, which are strategically pointed toward the courtroom audience. The emitter panels transmit the judges message by way of an infrared signal (similar to how a TV remote works). Listeners in the courtroom wear body-pack style receivers equipped with headsets (or earphones); they pick up the judge’s message and adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level. The SoundPlus™ infrared technology keep the transmitted message from being transmitted outside the opaque walls of a courtroom, which increases security - often an important element of courtroom proceedings.
SoundPlus™ infrared systems such as the WIR TX900 and WIR TX925 have the ability to transmit more than one signal at a time. This gives the court the ability to provide simultaneous language translation services for its participants. Using the WIR TX900 system, up to four languages can be translated at one time. The WIR TX925 can be used for up to two languages at one time.
